MITI to monitor impact of liberalisation

PUTRAJAYA, May 19 ?The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will be issuing a report card every five to cheap satellite internet months to assess broadband speed tester impact of liberalisation of galaxy broadband services sector on local industries, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Its minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said that regular engagements would be undertaken with representatives from the services industries in order to gather feedback.

From the feedback so far, there are those who expressed their concern that the liberalisation may affect SMEs. There are internet providers cultural issues with the entry of foreigners into the market,?he said after a meeting with the Bumiputera Trade and Industry Association here today.

The population in north Stone is more than the south. People use the local buses to move around. Eva Morris, the oldest person in the world until 2000 was a Stone resident. The BT Group, major telecommunication player is located just outside town.

With a population of over 15000, Stone is on the West Coast Main railway line. Its about 7 miles from Stoke. Earthenware, shoe making and brewery are the major industries.

The canal is a major icon of the town and its history. Originally called as Grand Trunk Canal, the Trent and Mersey Canal links the two rivers. James Brindley started the canal construction. The construction and opening of the canal have been major turning points.

Stone has a town hall and market hall. The Moorings apartments are one of the new additions to the town. Education is based on the three tier system.
